Dear Crawford
I am sending Galle up tonight for the bearth on the rain is a little more than $4 and I am short of money. He can stay in Seattle cheaper than he can sleep on the train. I have given Galle $25 so far and he says he wants some more. Perhaps you can help him out. He should have a little for there is several things he will wa need. I will leave Port. at 11:30 P.M. and will get into Seattle about 7 A.M. I will come and wake you up
By the xx way, if you ever issue any up important

orders to any one, and can not be there to yourself to see them executed, the orders should always be in writing. This is one of Stefansson's iron bound rules and is a very good one, for a man may say that you did not tell him to do so and so, but your carbon copy will show exactly what you orderd. This rule came in very valuable several times up north before. Think this over.
