Dear Mrs Wilcox:

Attached you will find two startling wires
just received from Noice, and also copies of two cables I
have sent direct to Mr Stefansson. The situation is serious
and I hardly know what to do, but have decided to postpone
my visit to New York until something is done.

,It is unthinkable that Mr Stefansson does
not realize the seriousness of the present situation, and
the far reaching and unfavourable effect that any public
appeal for money will have upon himm personally.

There are only two sources that the money for
this expedition should come from, the government or privately
from us. We have told Mr Stefansson that I cannot find the
money here and I do trust that he will persuade the Government
to advance it quickly, or find some private parties in
England that will.
