My Dear Mr. Stefansson;

I have been intending to reply to your letter of the
23 rd ult. which was received a couple of days ago but, so
many things come to my mind to say to you that I fear to
say half of them for fear that I become a burden to you.

I am herewith enclosing you a verified copy of Lorne's
letter and in it I can see his bigness for, never a whimper
although he was sick when he wrote this.

You spoke of certain copies that is, of a letter Lorne
which Lorne had written to you and you also said you were
attaching copies of your telegram but, none of them were
appended and, as to the letter, I should like this copy but,
I feel that the telegrams are not necessary for I believe
they were correctly transmitted and very comprehensive.

I am just in receipt of a clipping of the first install-
ment of Noice's story which a Niece of mine living in N.J.
has sent me and I can see by this that, while you think
Noice is in seclusion, he has himself hidden in his rooms
writing this second story and, as the heading says, he is
using the note book of his dead friend for the purpose.

I sincerely hope that you shall have recovered the diary
ere the arrival of this letter and when Joseph and I have
discussed the matter lately, we regret that I did not lay
him on the follr and sit on him in his room in the Frye
Hotel
while Joseph took possession of these things BUT
no one would ever have believed that he would do as he has
done, although, his treatment of us in his silence was a
pretty good hint to us of what we might have exprected.

We have written letters to Ada Blackjack and we are
hoping that we may get replies from her when the Victoria
arrives on her last trip from Nome and there may be some
thing, if she does, that may help us some and I assure you,
if the least ray of light appears I will waste no time int
transmitting it to you.

I have had letters from the Galles and from Mrs.Maurer
and they favor the idea of a memorial such as I have suggested
and I shall be glad if something can be done and I deem it
very fitting that any monument or memorial which might be
placed, be placed at Lorne's grave as a memorial for all.
