Mr. A. J. Taylor,
Combustion Engineering Corporation,
Bank of Hamilton Building,
Toronto, Canada.

Dear Taylor:

I am enclosing a letter addressed to Mrs. Crawford and am
also attaching to this letter a carbon copy of it. Please
read it carefully and give it to Mrs. Crawford, if you
think it will do some good. If you do not think so, please
communicate with her, explaining my entire approval of every
thing that Allen did on Wrangell Island and my confidence
that when the full truth is known, the boys will be much
more honored . than they can be on the basis of the inadequate
and in some respects, incorrect, story published by Noice.

I telegraphed you about a week ago accepting November 13th
to speak before the Canadian Club. The telegram must have
miscarried for I received another from you yesterday. I
replied immediately in the same terms as before - that I
would speak on the 13th, that I considered it advisable on
the whole, but would even now withdraw if the Crawfords
thought best. I want you, however, to urge upon them that
the friends of Allen Crawford are sure to be pleased the
more fully with the story as told as I see it, for it seems
to me that Noice has greatly exaggerated the things he criti-
cizes and that the full story will be very creditable to all
the boys concerned.

Sincerely yours,
