[...][Rei]ndeer Meat Is
Placed on Menu at
Hotel Vancouver

Vilhjalmur Stefansson, while rusti-
cating in the frost-bound regions
around the North Pole, had nothing
on the guests of the Hotel Vancouver
in the matter of meat menu. Reindeer
meat is now on the hotel's bill of fare.

Reindeer meat is not usually avail-
able for hotel purposes in British Co-
lumbia
because the laws of the coun-
try make it illegal for reindeer to be
killed for commercial purposes. Large
numbers of reindeer are killed in
Alaska and shipped to Seattle, how-
ever, and it was through that source
that the hotel was able to put the
meat on the menu.
