Fletcher, Inglis, 1879-1969Peggy Inglis Fletcher was born Minna Towner Englis Clark in 1879, in Alton, Illinois. She studied sculpture at Washington University, St. Louis before marrying John George Fletcher in 1902. She followed her husband as he worked in several mining camps in California, Oregon and Alaska. After World War I, Fletcher met Vilhjlamur Stefansson who encouraged her to write. She published her first book "The White Leopard" in 1931, which was followed by many more including "Men of Albermarle" (1942), "Queen's Gift" (1952) and "The Wicked Lady" (1961).
