Mrs. Maurer

Dear Mrs. Maurer:

I have just received a letter from Fred
written from Nome, Alaska. He asks me, among other things, to
try to convince you that the far North is a very ordinary
place, much like Ohio. It happens that I have already written
a letter of that sort to his wife. I did not suppose you
needed it after having Fred in the North two years already
and after hearing my lecture and perhaps reading my book.

There was nothing really private in my
letter to your son's wife so I am enclosing a copy of it to
you. If I wrote you seperately the letter would be hardly at
all different.

Mrs. David Maurer,
209 West High Street,
New Philadelphia, Ohio.
