Dear Mr Stefansson

Your very kind letter
came to us a few days ago, for
which we thank you. We know you
feel keenly about this loss of the boys
and know you especially felt very
kindly to Fred. I don't know if you
knew how much Fred admired you.
In the many talks I had with him
he convinced me that he really
worshiped you and would do any
thing that would further your interest.
I can't understand why he left
the island. he gave reasons in
the letter to his mother and to Delphine.
that is was on acc't of shortage of
food and that game was scarce some
of the time, but I feel if he had
stayed it would very probably been
better than he expected. It seemed from
this tour of his letters that it would be
