Maurer

.

Dear Delphine:

I have been wondering how complete your files may be as to the correspondence between Fred and me, especially back in 1920. Is it possible that other members of the family may have carbons of letters of his to me which you do not have?

I would particularly like to know if you have a copy of his answer to my letter of February 23, 1921, asking for information about vegetation on Wrangell Island. So far as my files show I never seem to have received a reply to this. I am wondering now whether that might have been because Fred never received it or whether his reply to me was lost. You would not be able to tell that, of course, unless you happen to have a carbon. If you do find a copy of his reply to this letter, I am very anxious to have a copy of it.

I would doubtless remember now whether he replied were it not that we discussed the same subject so often verbally later on and I cannot say now what information I got from him verbally and what by letters that are lost.

Mrs. F.W. Maurer, 911 Robbins Avenue, Niles, Ohio.
