Minutes of Council Meeting held May 17th 1919

Present Cr James O'Shanahan (in the Chair) Crs R.M.McFarlane. OA Hall. WG Morgan JA McGuire & SA Puckridge. Minutes of Previous meeting read & Confirmed.

Financial Statement submitted & read.

Correspondence 1 Parliament Trip Letter from VH Ryan stating that the proposed inspection of Eyre Peninsula Country by members of Parliament had been postponed for the present.

2 Exhibition March to May 1920 Letter from HE Winterbottom stating that an all-Australian Peace Exhibition would be held in Adelaide from March 26th to May 22nd 1920.

Wire netting Instalments. Letter from Sec Lands dated 22/4/19 stating that £1332-19-1 less £518-3-1 which is held over for the present, was due for wire netting Instalments & that the amount should be paid before the 30th inst, without fail to avoid the infliction of Penalties.

Rates on Soldiers Properties Letter from Sec Local Gov dept stating that the State Bank will pay rates on certain properties on which advances are made by them to Soldiers.

4. Employment of Soldiers. Letter from Sec Local Gov Dept 25/4/19 Stating that the Gov has modified the Conditions expressed in previous Circular as follows "The gift must be spent on works additional to those for which financial provisions has already been made by local Gov Authorities. Also Circular from same office re payments for wages & Ect.

5. Work on Tod Reservoir Road Letter from Sec Local Gov Dept 11/4/19. Asking that the amount claimed be placed on Form A & returned to that office when statement would be forwarded to Hydraulic Engineer for payment.

6. C.W. Gov loaning money to employ soldiers. Letter from Local Gov dept Stating that the Commonwealth Gov would loan money to local Authorities for temporary employment of Soldiers & asked for Council views on the proposal. Also if necessary Legislation will be introduced to authorise Councils to borrow money for this purpose. Clerk to write for full particulars regarding the Loan.

7. Closing Cemetery Advice received from Messrs Joyner Shepherd & Phillips re Closing Cemetery at Coulta. Clerk send copy of advice to Crator at Coulta.

8. Strychnine Letter from G Wills & Co Stating that they could supply Hulles Strychnine @ 11/3 per oz.

9. Buttons. Circular from A.E.S. Stokes re Peace celebrations Buttons & Ect.

10. Plan of Rd Louth. Letter & plan of Road proposed to be closed in Hd Louth received from green & Co.

11. Netting on 2AE2 Uley Letter from T.C.Wollaston stating that he was not responsible for Instalments due for wire netting on 2AE2 . Hd Uley

12. lot 103 Lin. Letter from D Davies asking the Council to reserve land for Road on Western boundary of Allot 103 Town Lincoln. Resolved that 1 chain be left for Roadway on west side of allotment 103 Town Lincoln.

13. Cemetery Rd Coulta. Letter from Curator for Coulta Cemetery asking Council to have a road cleared to the new Cemetery at Coulta. Also Letter asking permission to place gate across road to protect the old Cemetery at Coulta. Resolved that W Doudle be offered £2 to clean old track to new Cemetery & other request be granted.

14. Cemetery at Cummins. Letter from R Granit at Cummins stating that he had taken over S Triggs business at Cummins & that Trigg had handed over the Cemetery Books to him. Moved by Cr Hall, That S Trigg resignation as Curator for Cum Cemetery be accepted & that R Granit be appointed Curator 2nd Cr Puck & Carried. 15 Cont No 62 Letter from JW Goddard asking for extention of time to complete Cont 62 Hd Kiana. 1 month extention be granted. Order received from J Thorpe in favor of A Puckridge for 5-15-0 & 6-12-0 in favor of JM Shepperd.

Lord Jellicoe's Visit The following wire was sent to acting Minister of Navy "Regarding visit Lord Jellicoe, soon possible advise arrival & departure, whether any local reception or form of entertainment acceptable or whether visit wholly official. Reply received from Minister of Navy. Lord Jellicoe arrive Lincoln May 24th time to short to accept any reception. Signed Poynton. Wire from Chief Sec, JG Bice 16/5/19. Chairman Dist Council Lincoln "Prime Minister advises that Lord Jellicoe will probably visit Port Lincoln 24th May- in HMS "New Zealand". unfortunately his lordship engagements do not permit of any stay there. Signed Bice Chief Sec. Letter from D Drysdale asking if Council intended to take any steps to welcome Lord Jellicoe. received.

Transfer of Lands. From J Myers to LJ Myers. lots 9.10.11.12.21.22.23.24 Coulta Township From AJG Davies to PDS Cooper lot 28 of 2W Hd Cummins From W.N.McDonald to A Walker Blk 1A Hd Ulipa. From WR Hage to GW Stockham 2 lots of pt Sect 3 Hd Lincoln From E. Behr to Mrs ME Davies lot 347. Town Lincoln. Moved by Cr Morgan, That Clerk be authorised to make the necessary alterations in Assess Book 2nd Cr SA Puckridge & Carried.

Cr Hall asked that holes be filled adjoining Wildeloo Railway Siding Granted.

Cr Morgan that Tenders for 5 or 6 chs on Barneys Hill 2nd Cr Puck & Carried

Cr OSh stated that 5 chs near JT Murrays was very bad & asked that Tenders be called - granted.
