Minutes of Council meeting held Nov 16th 1918

Present Cr Jas. O'Shanahan in the chair.

Crs McFarlane, McGuire, Morgan & Puckridge

Minutes of Previous meeting read & confirmed.

Financial Statement: submitted & read

Correspondence 1. 2AE2 Uley Letter from Dept Lands & Survey. Stating that Section 2 AE2 Hd Uley was a freehold & that the transfer of such did not come before that office. 2. S Louth Rd. Letter & telegram from Secretary Local Gov Dept asking that the Louth & Koppio Main Road be strengthened at once to carry the heavy traffic to the Tod River Reservoir. & to furnish the Dept with estimate cost of Same

3. Road Bridges Letter from local Gov Dept asking the council to have frequent inspections made of all road Bridges in the Dist.

4. Subsidy. Memo from Local Gov Dept stating that the Subsidy £ 314- 17- had been paid into Bank of Australasia Pt Lincoln to the Councils credit

18, 5 Pipes. letter from Concrete Co stating they had shipped 4 x 2' Pipes to Kirton Point Jetty on the 5th inst (6) Road Roller. Quotation received from British-Australian Machinery Co for"Champion" reversible Road Roller @ £175 F.O.B Sydney. Also letter from W.H. May &Sons Wallaroo. Stating that they would quote for Road Roller next mail.Price 155 for light and 165 for heavy Roller. 1st Cr McG that Roller be purchased from Brit-Aust Co. Melbourne at Price quoted £175 Melb delivered at Pt Lincoln 2nd Cr McFar & Carried (7) Letter from T.A. Robinson giving quotations for Stencil paper & inks. received

(8) Telephone Service. Letters from Deputy Postmaster General stating that the request for a continuous telephone service for this Dist had been received & that the council would be further advised on the matter. (9) Wire Netting Applications Applications for second hand wire netting received from Good Brothers & R.T. Robins replys sent. (10) Blk 9 Cum Netting Letter from R Rosewarne saying that there was 28 Rolls of netting on division line between Blks 9 & 10 Hd Cum. that had not been erected & that he would take same over at Book defaults. Clerk to have Transfer effected.

11 Lot 375 Lincoln Notification received from Lands Title Office re lot 375 being bought under the R.P.A title

12 Mena Rd. Letter from E.Myers Coulta stating that he had repaired the road in the Mena Swamp and asked that Council make payment for same. Moved by Cr Morgan , That matter stand over for O/S to inspect. 2nd by Cr Puck & carried

13 Account from £3 received from C.H. Koch Pillana for metalling done on Blacks road (Pillana). Resolved that a/c stand over for Cr Hall to report on same.

14 Cont 15 Letter from J.H. Thorpe asking permission to forfeit contract No 15 North Main Rd on a/c of long distance carting. Resolved the Cont 15 be cancelled.

15 Cont 41 Request received from A.M. Wilkinson to transfer Cont 41 (Dutton Bay Rd) to I. Halls price 4/4/- per chain. Agreed to transfer the Cont to I. Halls.

Speed Limit Town Pt Lincoln Moved by C. McFarlane that the Sergeant of Police be be asked to enforce By law No 45 regarding the speed limit within the Township of Pt Lincoln. 2nd Cr McGuire & supported by Crs Puckridge, Morgan & OShanahan. Carried Letter of thanks received from Mrs. F. Radford for letter of Sympathy & Condolence sent.

Moved my Cr McFarlane. That this council desires to place on record their sense of heartfelt praise and Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the supreme blessing of Peace which he in his mercy and wisdom has now vouchsafed to the whole world & that we the councillors as members of the representative of the public body of Port Lincoln & Dist desire to express our loyalty to King and Empire & our deep gratitude to all the Allied Nations & their armies 2nd Cr Morgan & carried

Wire from May + Sons stating that Price of Road Roller @ 155 for light Roller & 165 for Heavy roller From Vermin Bd, asking Council to see that all dogs kept a Tod River Reservoir works are registered O/S to see that all dogs are registered.

Cr McGuire Asked the amount of Slaughtering fees. Also asked that bushes be cleared in Clyde St Bay View - Also Culvert needed cleaning out Also asked if Bushes could be placed in Streets near Wrights to stop sand drift. Estimate of reconstructed of Liverpool St Received - Price estimate @ 12/-/- per chain.
