Minutes of Meeting held January 16th 1914 Present JD Bruce Chairman Councillors Hartley & Palm Minutes of previous Meeting read & confirmed Financial Statement & estimate of works read.

New Grader Chairman reported that he had interviewed the Commissioner re Purchasing a grader who advised that written application be made. Cr Hartley } That the Clerk write asking for authority Cr Palm} to charge the cost of a grader to A/c A. Carried

Correspondence Letter containing seasons greetings from Chief Secretary Received.

Governors Visit Letter from SA Governors Private Secretary re His Excellency's visit to Pt Lincoln. Received.

Auditor Letter from JG McGee resigning the position of Auditor Cr Palm} That the resignation be received Cr Hartley} Carried.

Election of Auditor Cr Hartley Pro } That Nominations Cr Palm Sec } for the position of Auditor be called to be in by Noon of January 30th and that the Clerk be appointed Returning Officer at a fee of £2.2.0 Carried

Drain Pipes Letter from HC Sanders applying for permission to lay a drain pipe across the North Road Cr Palm } That request be granted. Cr Hartley } Carried

Kiana Road Letter from RL Myers re repairs to road in Kiana Cr Palm} That the matter stand over for the Cr Hartley } present until the Mt Hope railway question is settled.

Street Survey Letter from Mr A Seddon stating that Essington St had been surveyed as requested. Cr Hartley } That Mr Seddon be informed that Cr Palm} before payment is made of the A/c a signed plan must be supplied & the ground pegged. Carried

Mitchell Windmill Letter from Mitchell Progress Committee re Windmill in Hd Mitchell needing repairs. Cr Palm} That the Committee be informed that Cr Hartley} the Council cannot see their way clear to expending more money on the Windmill but are prepared to lease it to any resident who can then make schedule charges for the water & thus cover cost of upkeep. Carried

Local Govt Assoc Letter from Local Government Association re suggestion for New District Councils Bill. Cr Hartely } That this Council suggest that provision Cr Palm} be made in the Bill for a Government Auditor & an effort made to adopt uniformity in BookKeeping of the D Councils of S Aus. Carried

Letter re Liverpool St from Com. Crown Lands. Main Roads Com. Letter from Main Roads Commission re Main Road Schude & appointment of Witnesses. Cr Palm } That the Chairman & Mr Jacobs be Cr Hartely } appointed as Witnesses. Carried

Cr Palm} That the roads in Mortlock as described Cr Hartley } by the Overseer be placed on the Main Road Schedule & the Mt Dutton to Wangary Road removed therefrom. Carried.

Rifle Range Letter re Rifle Range with Agreement from the Federal Authorities for signature Cr Palm } That the matter be left for the Chairman Cr Hartley} and Clerk to sign after obtaining Legal opinion as to advisability of doing so. Carried.

Notice of Motion Cr Palm gave Notice of Motion that at the next meeting he would move that the Resolution relating to fixing the position for the Cummins Lamp be rescinded.

Cr Palm referred to hole in road at Cummins Left with Cr Palm to have it attended to.

Widening Tasman Terrace Cr Hartley referred to the necessity of widening the road at Post Office Corner & Pro that the Overseer be instructed to make the roadway several feet wider by removing the bank that at present exists. Carried Cr Hartely Pro} that an estimate of Cost of Lighting repairs Cr Bruce } be obtained. Carried.

Wire Netting Application for Wire netting from A Calderwood Loan £19 - Granted. A/cs Cr Hartley } That the a/cs as read be passed Cr Palm} for payment. Carried.

Letter from MT Morgan asking for 2 weeks extension of time for completion of contract Request granted.

Tenders Contracts 154 & 155 held over for future consideration. Contract 156 Cr Palm } That HH Voumards tender be Cr Hartley } accepted. Carried

Overseers Report Read Cr Hartley } That a reward of £5 be offerred for Cr Palm} information that will lead to the conviction of the person who broke the lock of the Pound & rescued the bull therefrom on Dec 27th 1913. Carried

Cr Palm } That the Overseers report be adopted. Cr Hartley. Carried

Water Supply Letter from Commissioner read giving information re Water Supply. Cr Hartely} That Clerk be instructed to Call Cr Palm} a Meeting of Ratepayers for the purpose of Considering the advisability of approaching the Government with regard to a water Supply for Pt Lincoln. Carried.

Cr Bruce requested that the Ford at the Fountain be cleaned out & a bucket supplied at the well at the 21st Mile Post. Also that Mrs Murray be requested to keep her ducks from trespassing at the Tod River. Referred to Overseer.
