Correspondence --- Highways Dept stating that Councils request for Cummins - Mt Drummond and Sleaford Roads be added to Main Road Schedule, will receive consideration

2 Councillors Mortlock Ward Highways Dept advising that proclamation appeared in Govt Gazette of 20 Febry 1947 that the number of Councillors for Mortlock Ward had been increased to 2. Gazette notice states - New councillor from 1st Saturday in July 1947 & Cr Ford remains in office until July 1948

Tennant Cairn Endowment Fund Secy Tennants Estate suggesting by Trustees that a fund be created to keep the cairn in order in perpetuity and asking if the Council would accept the sum of £50 to invest as an endowment for the perpetual upkeep of the John Tennant Memorial Cairn at the entrance to Tallala Louth Bay Prop Cr Wood/ Sec Cr Richardson} That Council will accept £50 as an endowment for the upkeep of the cairn as suggested carried

Re Street Light Plant Cummins Mrs G Umlauf asking if Council would be agreeable to transfer her street light agreement to a suitable person who would be prepared to purchase same Clerk replied that Council would agree to transfer same to a suitable purchaser

Phone Across Road Hd Cm Newton F Trigg requested permission to erect telephone line across Cummins - Edillilie Road opposite Section 64 & 65 Hd Cummins Prop Cr Ford/ Sec Cr Smith} That permission be granted under the usual conditions. carried

Regional Planning Chairman Regional Planning Committee re copy of Report and Regional Boundaries and requesting Council to reply giving their views of same. Clerk to reply that Council has this under consideration.

Re D6 Tractor SA Tractor Coy stating that a number of Model D6 Caterpillar Tractors is expected to arrive shortly and if Council requires one to make application as soon as possible. Also giving particulars and catalogue of tractor. Ordered Prop Cr Smith/ Sec Cr Woods } That Council ordered one D6 Caterpillar tractor from SA Tractor Coy with angle dozer attachment. carried

Re Grant for Recreation Ground Cummins Recreation Ground Committee requested an annual grant of £35 for regularly watering the Cummins Oval to improve and maintain same. This was held over for further information

Thos Proude re rates paid and bad state of the road in Halls Gully. received

JD Green again wrote re vermin on land adjoining his property.

Subdivision Approval Town Planner Plan No 157/47 Proposed subdivision of Lots 30 31 of Sec 2w Cummins . Walsh and Cronin again considered Prop Cr Ford /Sec Cr Smith} That plan be approved carried

Main Road Schedule Inspector Davis advised that additions to Main Road Schedule now would include - roads - Cummins to Mt Drummond and Cummins to Mt Hope - Sleaford Road would not be added to schedule.

Food for Britain Fund Organizer Lord Mayors Food for Britain Appeal and requested cooperation of Council and members in collecting funds for same. Clerk reported he had replied that Council would open a fund and that he had since received Permit to collect, & 2 receipt books, one of which had been sent to Mr RO Harris Com Bk Cummins to collect, and one to CWA at Yeelanna as arranged by Crs Ford & Smith

Re Sign on Road C/W Oil Refineries requested permission to erect a sign on road at the junction of Old and New West Roads. Prop Cr Woods /Sec Cr Richardson} That as Council are not in favour of advt signs on roads the request cannot be granted . carried

National Safety Secy National Safety Council re conference to be held on 29 & 30 April and requesting that Council be represented. Resolved that Council are unable to send a representative.

Curator Cummins Cemetary AA Haines notified that Gordon George Parfitt would be willing to act as Curator of Cummins Cemetary Prop Cr Ford /Sec Cr Smith} That Gordon George Parfitt be appointed curator of Cummins Cemetary. carried

Report on Fire LE Chambers report of Fire Unit and equipment call to a fire on the farms of Mr Thorpe and also K Blacker Hd Cummins and the prompt attendance and same by the unit, to which the truck recently purchased by the Council greatly contributed. recd

Petition re Warrow Road Petition by ratepayers of Coulta ,Warrow, and Cummins for repairs to the Cummins - Warrow Road which is in a very bad state. The Overseer was insructed to endeavour to have something done to this road as soon as possible.

Rate of Tractor Hire Prop Cr Richardson /Sec Cr Woods} That the maximum price to be paid for hire of tractors & drivers for road work be 25/- per hour . carried

Re Pumps Returned to Hannan Bros HR Proctor Secy Fire Unit Yeelanna advised that pumpers (Evinrude) had been returned to Hannan Bros Hannan Bros reported that these pumpers arrived in Adelaide damaged in transit evidently through faulty packing Mr Proctor reported that the pumpers were not removed from the case at Yeelanna but were returned as received

Donation by Council Food for Britain Fund Prop Cr Richardson/ Sec Cr Morgan} That this Council donate £30 to this fund carried

Report Overseers report was read and adopted on motion of Crs Richardson and Doudle

Requests Cr Woods requested that about 3 chains of road to Whillas' be gravelled. Also that Overseer inspect Uley Road and see what can be done . granted Cr Smith requested that a hole on Yeelanna - Kapinnie Road be filled in. Granted Cr Ford reported that drainage scheme as proposed could not be carried out as all land holders were not agreeable to same.

Cr Richardson requested permission to get someone to do repairs to road to A Crawfords and also Watherstons Road granted

Bad Road JT Firth wrote re bad state of the road between Section 58 & 59 Hd Cummins which requires grading. Overseer to endeavour to get someone to do this work.
