Minutes of Meeting held 22nd May 1908 In afternoon 2 O/c----- The Chairman Formally Opened New Dist Council Hall Present all except Cr Brice, Apology for Same Councillor Bruce in Chair. Minutes of last Meeting read & confirmed Financial Statement read by Chairman Correspondence, letter Recd from Com. of Railways Govt decided that Goods shed be put on Township side_________ The chairman explained that a meeting of Rate payers had be called at their request, to take into consideration to taking up of the Rails on Jetty & a resolution was passed that the Ratepayers disaproved of the lifting of the Rails-------- The resolution was wired to The Commissioner. & also to the Representatives-of the district On Friday afternoon a reply by wire was recd stating That the rails would be relayed------ Signed by Secy Comm. Public Works. also wire from Messrs Warren,Travers, Burgoyne, stating That the rails would be relaid when Jetty is repaired----The reply was considered satisfactory. S.G. office stating that an overpayment had been made on account of money being paid in by Tumby Council, The overpayment had to be returned to this Council----------

Minutes of Meeting May 22nd 1908 Contd. C.L. Office re alteration of Wards of this district-- C.L. Office re assessment of Grand Hotel. Clerk to reply & state that new Assessment would be made next year. S.G. Office send recept for £1,000. Wire Netting Installment. Commissioner of Railways stating that on account of making alteration of goods shed the balance of £300 would be reduced to £100--- Clerk to apply for same-- X Wollaston leasing Spruits Water Reserve _ The same to be Leased at a rental of 30/- per year Same conditions as Whites _ X Cr OShanahan 2nd Cr Morgan Letter from Varley & Evan. Wire from Rep Poyston State that Wire Netting has been placed on the free list _ Circular rec'd from Farmers Sanitary Co. C.L. Of stating that £50 was paid for Main Rd gravel C.L. Of stating that £150 was paid for Special Gravel C.L. Of stating that £1200 was paid for Special New Hundreds C.L. of stating that Liverpool Street was not on schedule and no grant is procurable_ C.L. Of stating that the Engineer of Roads would be over in this district to inspect Main Roads _ Circular from C.L. Of stating recommendation to burn grass so as to make fire break. C.L. Of stating it was unnecessary to send over sample of Road Metal, as Commissioner left the choices of material to Dist Councils_ letter from Bernard _ The matter to be left in the Hands of Councillors Solicitors _ Letter from Durden re Ratepayers name on blocks of part of his Section lately cut up. Letter from C I Parker re clearing road in Louth Moved by Cr OShanahan ) That Tenders be called for Seconded by Cr Morgan ) same _ Car Resident Engineer, re signing agreement for attaching Wire Netting to Railway fence _ The Matter stand over till next meeting _ Letter Recd from Mr McEvoy re Mortlock Election. Letter from A E Gardener re Road to Mortlock Station. Overseer to inspect same, Tenders to be called. Letter from Cr Brice re Main Road 64th Mile Post Overseer to report. Letter from A Wells re Tasman Terrace. Inspection to be made tomorrow morning _ Moved by Cr Puckridge ) That main road Winters Hill Seconded by Cr Morgan)be immediately attended to The Main drain & Miter drains to be added to. car Moved by Cr OShanahan ) That Tenders be called Seconded by Cr Puckridge) for 15 chains be formed and gravelled on Poonindie Hill _ car Moved by Cr Morgan ) The 3/4 mile be gravelled on the Seconded by Cr OShanahan ) Mt Dutton Bay Road. Tenders next meeting. Minutes of Meeting held May 23rd 1908

The Council visited Tasman Terrace with reference to A Wills request _ Moved by Cr Puckridge ) That the council cannot Seconded by Cr Morgan) see their see their way clear to Grant the request of lowering road. Mr Wills to be notified to that effect _ Tenders to be called for next meeting for the levelling of the Beach Fencing & spreading Scrub or bushes on same to top the sand drifting _ The work to be done by scoop _ carried

Friday evening May 22nd 1908

The opening of the Council (New) Chamber _ was celebrated in the evening by holding a Smoke Social at which about 30 Ratepayers Representing the whole District. The usual Toasts were duly honered _ It was decided to hold a general rate payers meeting on Wednesday June 1908 For the purpose of discussing Sanitary matters and another other business that may be brought forward_
