To Wm W Crapo Esq

Dear Sir, Yours of the 4th was received & contents noticed, I have signed the Instruments, in presence of Secy of State, and I presume that will Answer as well as a Notary, there has been many influences brought to bear which has decided me, and I am in hopes you will be successful in rendering in Justice.

Among my Claims aside from 1/4 of the Favorite, I sent in Jan 6th 1866 and received a Receipt for Claims amounting to between $1,400 & 1,500 for Books &c. Past month I sent in another Claim for $756, aside from Catchings, which was 1/14 of 250 [illegible] sp 250 [illegible] 3800 lbs Bone I have no receipt for these, they may have sent one to Fortlane but as yet have not received it, I had 220 Vols of Books besides my Journals which were complete from 1830 to 1865, please acknowledge receipt
