Court House Indianapolis
Tuesday eveg May 14 1861

Pursuant to a notice in the public
papers the following persons having been elected
on the 7th day of May instant trustees of the pub
lic schools of Indianapolis met at the Court
House at 1/2 past 7 pm to wit
From the 1st ward Oscar Kendrick
2d ward David V Culley
3 ward James Greene
4 ward Thomas B Elliott
5 ward James [?]ulgrove
6 ward Louis W Hasselman
7 ward Richard ONeal

The meeting was organized
by the appointment of D V Culley president
of the board and James Greene secretary of
this meeting
Richard ONeal having been
elected by the common council treasurer
of this board was recognized as such
The following resolutions offered by T B Elliott were
after full deliberation unanimously ad
opted
1 Resolved That the trustee of each ward
in connection with the treasurer be a stand
ing committee charged with the duty of
ordering necessary repairs to the school
house in such ward renting the same
during the vacation of public schools and
exercising the care and oversight necessary
for the protection of the building

2 Resolved That the repairs provided for by
the 1st resolution shall in no case exceed
$50 without the special order of the board

3 Resolved That until the next free school
