following communication before the board

Mr C C Hines
and myself when trustees agreed with Mr E V
Cole in the absence of Mr C B Smith to settle
his (Coles) note of $83 for $28 in consequence
of our being satisfied that the telescope
for which the note was given was not what
Mr Cole supposed it to be when he bought
it nor what the board of trustees who sold
it to Mr Cole supposed it to be

The secy pro tem reported that in accord
ance with the above agreement he had sur
rendered Mr Coles note to him and received
from him and paid over to the treasurer
the sum of $28
