How much I wish all [people?] might be able to see this well-[as--?] [house?]

So many will never know this loss. Throughout it is a place which at once elevates and cultivates. It is a privilege to be as I have been this week, through the kind courtesy of its [?] [?] hostess, [so?] [quiet?] and breathing this atmosphere of refinement and exquisite taste.

With many thoughts of my unusually pleasant stay. I shall soon depart, filled with a deep longing that the world in general was full of similar homes; but Alas: There are so many houses, so few homes.

Sincerely a friend,

[C.?] [M?] [Seward?]
