PORTER ARTHUR G Apr 24 1893

[?]

Dear Mrs. Sewall, I beg pardon for not sooner replying to your letter about the portrait.

I would not desire to have my portrait hung on the Indiana State Building except with those of the Govenors and from motives of delicacy I would be unwilling to have one taken for the purpose myself for the purpose of having it exhibited. It seems to me that it would be very proper for the State to lend you the group of portraits suspended in the State House.

A small sum paid for insurance would furnish means for supplying new ones if any should be lost. I should be very willing, if this loan were made, to pay the insurance on my own portrait and probably some others.

I am with great respect, Yours very truly, A.G. Porter
