Title: Letter from Elbert Hubbard to May Wright Sewall.
Description: Twas a charming visit I had with you and I am fully convinced if I could repeat it every few months, I could get some great things out of my ink well. I spent Sunday with that peculiar man John Bryan of Ohio ; and in glee he showed me a picture of you surrounded by twenty good women and true and in the background looms a solitary man - John himself... I am sending you three books... My good wife joins me in love to you. Elbert Hubbard (1856-1915), American author, master craftsman, and editor. After retiring from his job in sales and advertising for a manufacturing company, Hubbard traveled abroad and met William Morris. Inspired by the experience, he returned to Aurora, N.Y. and founded the Roycroft Press which specialized in artistic printing. Eventually this transformed into the Roycrofters Corporation, a semi-communal institution employing hundreds of people in a revival of old handicrafts. Hubbard was also the author of several novels and the tale "A Message to Garcia." He was the editor of "The Philistine," a monthly magazine in which Hubbard aired his philosophy and opinions on all issues. He became a sought-after lecturer and was often abroad for lecture tours. He went down on the Lusitania.
