Dearest sister May,

I got your most welcome letter yesterday, when I was with friends till late and simply now I will reply quietly to all your questions, but let me befin by thanking you with all my heart for your constant kindness and affection, I consider as a great comfort in my very [sad?] life!

But in England there have been several reviews in important papers such as the Literary Supplement of The Times, The Standard, The Daily Express, The Daily Chronicle, and others as I hear from my publishers that they would send me several cuttings from important

papers. The Honorable W. Warren Vernon, the celebrated Dante Scholar, wrote to me he head never in his 80 years old long life, read a book so interesting, etc. etc. and he sent me as " a token of appreciation of this [irresistible?] book" His 6 fine volumes on Dante!

I have never asked any one to write any reviews either for England or for the United States.

all that has [appeared?] has been a spontaneous praise of my work.

I do not mention Contessa [di Gragga?] for she behaved brutally towards me, even I am a ? my interests and I could not even suit her for she was taken to a lunatic asylum! I had started an "Italian Review" and she offered to buy it from me and had a lawyer come to speak to me and meanwhile copies of a number which I had to pay as she never gave me one cent.
