Chicago, Ills., Apr 27.'95

Dear Friend

I spent last evening delightfully at Miss Starr's - where I met some dozen 'Starrs' from various places who were invited to "St. Joseph Collage" to meet me. We had a pleasant time. Miss Starr herself was much pleased to here from & of you.

I had not much chance or account of the other company to learn much about the Statue. It was opened at San Francisco & attracted as [?] much & favor

-ble attention. When however a voting place was sought for it, there was much opinion - as I understand it from the A.P.A and the [?]. It is now on its way back to Rome, where unless some [?] effort is made to rebring it, I suppose it may remain. This is all I cared [have?] under the circumstances.

I send you a copy of Mr. Mason's book - the first of my 'series'. It is badly written but the material is good & the intertion equally so. I hope you will find time sometime to look at it with care & that in speaking & writing you may find it occationally in your

I also send a copy of my Mexican notes. It is Bulletin 1 of the Dept.

I remember very pleasantly my recent trip to Indianapolis for which many thanks.
