Mrs. May Wright Sewall

My dear Madam

I do not think it will be in my power to attend the dinner to be given to Mrs. Anthony, Feb 15th. I shall feel great interest in its proceed ings. My personal aquantance with Miss Anthony is slight; but I know her great earnestness in every righteous cause is finally that most righteous of all causes, the cause of woman's suffrage. I hope that cause may revive a new impulse from your gathering.

arrived, year by year. That the granting suffrage to woman will remedy many evils which now are attenant on popular goverment; and if we are to dispair of that cause we must dispair of the final establishment of furtive as the controlling power in the political affairs of mankind.
