RIDDLE, GEORGE OCT 25, 1900

25 October, 1900.

My dear Mrs. Sewall: I intended to give myself the pleasure of call on you before your very kind note arrived.

I was very very sorry to hear of our clan secretary of Mr. Sewall's death. It happened at a time when I was in deep greif myself over my dear elder sister's death, and I was too selfish to think of anything else.

I am suffering with a heavy cold contracted that week driving throught the woods in an open carriage after reading in Lincoln, Mass. As I am reading my limited 4 times a week I must give [myself?] as all the plays are 'heavy' works, and Anthony's speech is most taxing. I
