Exuse the delay of my answering your lovely letter - but we have been away from the ranch and only recieved you message the day before yesterday.

you for the honor of placing me on the list of Patrons of the National council of Wo men. I have carefully studies the little [?] [?] and am only afraid my engatements may sometimes pre vent me from fullfilling my Patron's duties.
However I shall try to do my best. I have sent my first installment to Mrs. Hanna Bailey. I am sorry it is not the

just have had a considerable expense in bringing from Europe my brother - a family of five, who could not suceed in the old country. I am trying to make a nice home for them and find positions for the children who are very talented, indeed.
O! that war! I am also brokenhearted over it and after think of you and your lofty dreams. Last time we took breakfast at your home you spoke of associ ations of races, and we both

returned to the hotel un der the strong inpression of your words. Poor ideals! will they ever be realized? Will ever Civilization give us what we expect from its influence? Let us hope it will. For my part I am ready to give up my own self to your ideas and cry to the last breath "Excelsior!" Yes, I am "with you heart and soul - my lovely friend.
