CONSULAR SERVICE, U. S. A.

Mrs. W. Sewall, H Friedrich & Grosse.

Dear Madam, -

As you are approaching this port, permit me to you and all your companions my most cordial greetings, and to assure you that a hearty welcome is awaiting you here.

It is now expected that you will set foot on German soil on Monday forenoon and arrive at Bremen about noon. A committee of German ladies assisted by the few American living here, have, under the

Nevertheless I wish to say to you and to your comrades that when you come to Bremen, I want each and every one of you to feel that there

is some one at this consulate who is your friend and who stands ready to counsel and assist you all he can.

In conclusion, I beg, to invite you, also on behalf of Mrs. D., to our little German home, to be our guest during your sojourn here.

Wishing, you all god-speed toward a safe arrival here, Love Your fellow- hoosier Henry W. Diederich, U.S. Counsul.
