My dear, dear May,

My hitherto carefully restrained emotions must be allowed some vent -- so I indulge myself by acting upon your suggestion that I write you soon. I permit myself the extravagance of using a sheet of the Aux. Cong. of Rep(robate) Women paper, in order to feel that at least one sheet of it bears its heading of "Chicago U.S.A." appropriately and honestly. I shall feel that in the eyes of all true Chicagoans this will justify its having been printed in this way - one letter from the modern hub of the universe outweighing in weight (in scope and value, so to speak) all the rest of the correspondence concerning the W. C. of Rep. Women.

When you said tonight that I was funny
