My Dear Mrs. Sewall,

I snatch a few moments from the press of engagements to write you a line expressive of my love and admiration of you in our meeting in Washington. Especially was I pleased at your attitude on the Mormon question so just, and yet so loyal to principle. I was proud of you all the way through the council, and while I admire Mrs Gage, I cannot but feel that it was a great mistake

that you were more aimed as Chairman of the Exc. Com - I shall be at home about the first of June when I hope to see you and regale myself a good long talk. You know my weaking in that regard. Tell Mr. Sewall not to be alarmed, I promise to spare him. I am full of admiration and hope; my heart goes out in love and gratitude to the giver of all good, for the outlook for humanity; through the combined force, of all the moral agencies of the race.
