be better to open a new gateway at some future time in
the Northwest corner of the Cemetery opposite the Fitch-
burg Railroad Station and to put in order the gateway
at the corner of Coolidge Avenue, thus affording ad-
dditional means for entrance and exit for carriages when
necessary; but that nothing should be done at present.

Death of Mr. Lovering
The President announced that Mr. James W. Lov-
ering who had filled the office of Superintendent
of the Cemetery for nearly a quarter of a century,
had died form the effects of his injuries received
on in being thrown from his buggy while
driving in the Cemetery in the discharge of his
duty. The President detailed the circum-
stances of the accident as far as the same
had been ascertained, and inquired what
action the Board would take in the case.
After discussion the following votes were
passed:

Resolutions
Voted, "That we deeply regret the loss of our late
Superintendent, James W. Lovering, by accidental
death, and the sudden termination of his long
period of twenty-three years service in the employ-
ment of this Corporation, during which he distin-
guished himself by his ability, high character, and
devotion to our interests"

Voted "That the salary of the Superintendent to
next be paid to his widow for her use and
