Besides various donations of funds for Scholarships
and Bursaries recieved this year, the Ladies of St. Andrew's
Church Toronto offered to endow a permanent Bursdary of
£ 200. Curry. and the Trustees, while thanking them for
their zeal and liberty, resolved, that the said sum
be held in trust for the Endowment of a Bursary to be called,
"The Bursary of the Ladies Association of St. Andrew's Church,
Toronto." For the further securing of the above object, the Chair-
man was authorized to sign an Indenture as drafter by
Oliver Mowat Esq. of Toronto, and recorded in full in the Minu-
tes of the Executive Committee of date 19th, December 1856.

After due notice had been given in the newspapers
at the seats of the Universities in Scotland, and in the Canadian
Press, of the time for receiving applications of Candidates, the
Board of Trustees, on 5th August 1857, appointed the Revd
John B Mowat M.A., a graduate of the University, Suc-
cessor to the deceased Revd Professor Smith in the Chair
of Ecclesiastical History and Biblical Criticism.
