was the same as in the preceding Session of 1858-59, with the
addition of the Revd Dr. George as Professor of Logic, and Men-
tal and Moral Philosophy. The Revd Dr. Barclay and Mr.
Morris, however, Delegates to Scotland, having, on 9th Novr
1859, presented thaie Report, recommending for the office of
Principal the Revd Wm. Leitch, Minister of Monimail in
Scotland, that gentleman was appointed Principal of the
University at a Salary of [Pound symbol?] 600 Cy per annum, said ap-
pointment to take effect from and after the first day of
June 1860. The Trustees meanwhile continued to have the
benefit of the eminently useful services to the College of the
Revd Dr. Cook as interim Principal until the close of the
Session.

During the preceding Session a Society had been
instituted termed the "Alma Mater Society", consisting of
Graduates and under-Graduates of the University, and of the Principal and Professors
as honorary members. The object of the Society, which it has
since done so much to promote, are defined by its con-
stitution to be.
"1st To preserve the attachment of the Alumni to
the University, and their interest in it, after their
immediate connection with it has ceased;
