tion, and to express their heartfelt sympathy with his family in
their bereavement.
An Address from the University was presented to
His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales on the occasion of his
arrival at Kingston in the fall. In anticipation of his visit
the Senate agreed that the Professors should appear in Aca-
demic dress, and appointed Drs. Williamson and Lawson,
who afterwards took counsel on the subject with Professor
Octavius Yates of the Medical Faculty, to draw up and
submit a general scheme of Academic Costumes. Their
Report being received was adopted, and ordered to be acted
on. The costumes were to be as follows;
1. In Arts and Theology
Professors. Black Gown, Scarlet Hood lined with
black, Cap with two tassels.
B.A. Black Gown, Black Hoold, Cap with
one Tassel
M.A. Black Gown, Scarlet Hood, Cap with
one Tassel
D.D. Black Gown, Black Hood with
white lining. Cap with one Tassel.
