The unfortunate dissensions between two of the Professors,
between some of the Professors and the Trustees, and between the
Medical Faculty and their Secretary, all of them occurring during
the last two or three years, had combined to produce a most
injurious effect on the previously increasing prosperity of the
College and on the number of its Students. These causes of discord
and depression, however, were now almost wholly past away, and
the Trustees looked forward with hope to the future.
In the beginning of the Session the Revd William Snodgrass
was inducted Principal of the University in room of the deceased Principal
Leitch. In the Medical Faculty Dr. Horatio Yates held the Professorship of the
Principles and Practices of Medicine and Dr. Octavius Yates that
of the Principles and Practices of Surgery. Drs. Sullivan and Kennedy were ap-
