The deputation, appointed by the Synod to visit the Synod's
of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, having fulfilled the duties
of their mission, reported to the Board that "they had met with
a cordial reception, and found an earnest desire to act along
with the Synod of the Church in Canada in the establishment of
an efficient system for the Theological Education of Candidates
for the Ministry in the Dominion, in so far as circumstances
will permit."
Mr. Nathan Fellowes Dupuis, M.A., a Graduate of the
University, who had for several years past ably discharged
the duties of Astronomical Observer was, on 25th March 1868,
appointed Professor of Chemistry, and Natural History, the Depart-
ment of Geology being assigned to Professor Bell.
The Finance and Estate Committee were authorized,
and instructed to sell the College reserve of sixteen acres, opposite
to Alwington, at not less than One hundred and Thirty dollars
per acre, the Committee to use their discretion with regard to terms
and mode of sale.
Special mention of some of the many donations this year
from generous benefactors to the Institution deserves here to be
made. $400 were received from the Revd Alexander Lewis,
Mono, the interest upon the amount to be given annually
