The Revd. George D. Ferguson B.A., who had been
appointed on 4th June 1869, Professor of History and
English Literature, now commenced his duties in that de-
partment.
On 28th April 1870, the Revd. Alexander Mathieson
of Montreal, long one of the most highly respected members
of the Board, having been removed by death since their
last meeting, "it was unanimously resolved to put on record
an expression of the deep regret with which the tidings of his
lamented death were received by his co-Trustees, and of the
high estimation in which he was held by them and by the
Church at large. A member of this Board since the com-
mencement of its operations - his name being in the
Royal Charter on which Queen's College was founded,
