and were highly gratified by the kind invitations, and attentions
of their hosts. The Missionary Association, also, which had
been instituted at a very early period in the history of the College,
successfully prosecuted its important labours.

Valuable gifts to the College from various sources were
this year received.

An additional contribution to revenue of £200 Stg, was
sent by the Colonial Committee of the Church of Scotland, and the
Secretary of the Board was instructed to forward to the Secretary
of the Colonial Committee an Extract Minute of the Trustees as
follows;

"The Trustees hereby record their most grateful acknowledgements
to the Colonial Committee and the Parent Church for this,
especially in present circumstances extremely valuable aid, and
their sense of the obligation under which they are placed by
the proof it affords of the lively interest which the Church of
Scotland continues to take in the welfare of the College"

A donation of $200 was received from John Watkins
Esq., who had on repeated occasions shewn himself the warm friend
of the College by his liberal gifts.

Cheques for $150 were sent by James Russel Esq.
of Hamilton, Ontario, to be applied "in annual payments
