The number in Arts and Theology (60) shwed a
marked increase of the number in attendance, from 39 in 1871-
72, and 50 in 1872-73, to 60 in 1873-74, a number
exceeded only once before in 1858-59 when the whole num-
ber of Students in these departments was 64.

During last year "The Colonial Committee of the Church
of Scotland, ever solicitous for the prosperity of the College and ever
persevering in their efforts to promote the welfare of the Church, find-
ing themselves unable to obtain a sufficient number of suitable mission-
aries, being licentiates or ordained men, to supply the demands
made upon them, adopted a new measure, with an earnest hope
and a fair prospect of being successful, in the better attainment
of their object. To promising youths, desirous of entering
