1873, and the Alma Mater Society under whoses auspices it
was begun, and has continued ever since to be conducted, this
year added to its other important services the foundation of
a University prize for annual competition, open to members
of the graduating class, and to be awarded for the best essay
on some subject connected with Oratory. Other valuable
University prizes provided by friends of the College were an-
nounced in the Calendar.

The Statutues having been carefully revised a new
Edition was this year ordered to be printed under the super-
intendence of the Principal. Regulations also were passed
regarding the duties and salary of the College Janitor.

An incorporating Union of the different sections of
the Presbyterian Church in the Dominion being likely soon
to be consummated, a Committee, consisting of the Principal,
Convener, Dr. Jenkins, Messrs Maclennan and Croil, was ap-
pointed by the Trustees to consider what changes might be
necessary and desirable to be made in the Charter, and to
report to the next meeting of the Board.
