The number of Intrants was 20, and the whole number
in Arts and Theology 66, greater than the number enrolled
in any previous year.
In order to afford a wider scope to the "predilections
and capacities" of the Students certain changes in the regulations
of the Curriculum for graduation, together with provisions for
special Examinations for honors in the different departments,
suggested by the Senate, were approved by the Trustees, and
embodied in the Calendar for the ensuing Session. Intimation
was also given of the intended institution of the degree of B.
S. in Science.
Professor Mackerras had gone to Britain in June
for the benefit of his health, which had very seriously
suffered by his exertions in the prosecution of the Endow-
