to confer with a Committee of this Council, consisting of Professor
N.F. Dupuis, and Messrs. R.V. Rogers, and W.H. Fuller to consider
the whole matter, and devise means for raising the funds necessary
for the erection of said building, with instructions to report."

The Trustees in accordance with the above suggestion appointed
their Finance Committee to act conjointly with the Committee of the
Council in the preparation of plans and estimates, and in the consideration
of measures to be adopted for procuring the necessary funds.

The sum of $4000 was this year received from the Executors
of the late John Watkins Esq., being the amount bequeathed by that
gentleman for the use of the College, and a further sum of $1300
was paid over by them to the Treasurer of the College having been bequeathed
by him for the endowment of the "Watkin's Scholarship."

The Trustees, in acknowledging to the Executors the
receipt of the above amounts, took occasion to express their deep
sense of the generous assistance which Mr. Watkins had given
to the College by many benefactions during his lifetime, and of
the provision which he had made for farther aiding it after his
death by his liberal bequests.

A successful movement was this year made to procure
funds for defraying the expence of dies for medals,
the dies to be the property of the University, and two gold
