The Revd George Monro Grant M.A., Minister of
St. Matthew's Church, Halifax, N.S., who had been Moderator
of the Presbyterian Church of the Maritime Provinces in connection
with the Church of Scotland at the time of the Union of the Churches
in 1875, and of whose eminent qualifications the Trustees were
fully satisfied, was unanimously appointed to succeed Dr.
Snodgrass, as Principal of the University, and Primarius Professor
of Divinity.

The Revd Mr. Grant having accepted the appointment
and intimated his intention to be in Kingston by the
1st December, it was resolved at a special meeting of the
University Council, that his installation should take place
on the 5th Decr at 4. P.M. in the Convocation Hall, and
that the addresses of the Chancellor, the Principal, and others, be
delivered in the City Hall on the same day at 7.30 P.M., the
admission to be by Ticket, and all graduates and alumni to
attend in Academic Costume.

During the month of November the Revd Dr. Bell of
Walkerton at the request of the Trustees delivered an instructive
course of lectures to the Divinity Students, on the
relations of Science and Theology.
