A special meeting of the Board of Trustees
was held on Sept. 12th when the question of
further additions to the College staff was again
considered. It was agreed that Professor
Dupuis should be relieved of a portion of his
work, and the Principal submitted to the Board
testimonials in favour of Mr. George McGowan
as a suitable sucessor to Professor Dupuis in
the Chair of Chemistry. It was resolved to
appoint Mr. McGowan to take charge of the
Chemistry Classes for the ensuing session at a
remuneration of $1000, but it was decided that the
permanent appointment to this chair should not
be made until the annual meeting of the Board
in the Spring. The appointment of Mr.
McGowan was not at the time confirmed.
