session of 1883-84 shewed [showed] an increase of fifty on
the previous year

The Committee of the Board of Trustees
appointed to consider the election of a Professor
of Chemistry, met at St. Andrews Church, Toronto
on the 13th June. There were six applicants
for the position. After due consideration of
the testimonials submitted, the Committee unanimously
agreed to recommend the appointment of
Dr. Goodwin of Sackville N.B. to the chair of
Chemistry. The report was presented at a
special meeting of the Board held on Oct 16th
at Queen's College, and it was decided that
Dr. Goodwin should be appointed to the position
at a salary beginning at $1600 per annum.
This salary was at the Spring meeting of the
Board increased to $1800.

This session witnessed
the opening of the first Women's
Medical College in the Dominion, and
