feeling. The Council took occasion at the time of his
re-election to express their sense of his valuable services
in a letter of thanks and acknowledgement. (For letter

At the annual meeting of the
Trustees of Queen's the Rev James Carmichael of
King's was re-elected lecturer on Church History and
Mr W Nichol B.A. and Mr A Shortt M.A. were
elected lecturers in Practical Chemistry and Botany
for the ensuing summer session, and Mr Shortt
was appointed Tutor in connection with Dr Watson
and Dr Goodwin's classes for the following winter.

The need for additional aid in the
the teaching staff was strongly felt, and while the
constant increase in the number of students was
matter for great satisfaciton it proved indeputably the
necessity for taking every step possible for adding to the
funds of the University.

Large additions were made
this year to the Library and the Museum, but the
desired improvements in the shelving of the Library
had to be deferred fior another year owing to lack of
funds.
