had been unable to visit many sections of the country from
which this sum had been expected, comparatively little of
it had been collected. He represented also that the amount
annually received from the Assembly's College Fund for the
Theological Department was decreasing, and was at all
times uncertain. It was more than ever desirable therefore,
that it should be replaced by an equivalent in capital,
and he suggested with a view to a canvass of those
parts of the country as yet unvisited, and in consideration
of his own inability to continue the work, that an
agent should be appointed to prosecute the canvass.

The Principal closed his report with the following
suggestions with regard to what should be done towards the
extension of the University.

1st That the third story of the main building, hitherto unfinished,
should be completed, as four or five additional
classrooms would be thus provided at a cost not exceeding
$2000.

2ndly - That the 2nd story of the Library should be completed
on the same pattern as the first, giving twice as much
shelving for books as existed. This had become necessary, as,
owing to valuable donations of books, the space though ample
a short time before had become totally insufficient.

3rdly. That one or two professors should be asked to visit
at the close of the session, some of the best building
that have been recently erected in the United
