evening the suggestions were all adopted. Dr TG Smith,
who had already sent in an application for the position
was appointed a special agent, by the name of General
Secretary of the University, for five years the duties of the
office to be as follows.

1st. To collect in cooperation with
the Treasurer, principal and interest on the Jubilee
Fund.

2ndly. To raise such additional sums from fields
not yet canvassed as might be necessary to make up shrinkage,
and meet such special objects as alluded to in the
report.

3rdly. To raise such further sums as might be
offered to enable the University to keep pace with the
countrys progress.

4thly. To raise bursaries and scholarships.

5thly. To lecture when required to the Divinity
Students on pastoral work.

6thly. To assist the Principal
in every possible way to extend the usefulness of the
University.

The salary of the general Secretary was
fixed at $2000 with travelling expenses when on duty.

In accordance with the third suggestion of the
Principal, it was agreed to ask Professors Dupuis and
Goodwin to visit recently erected buildings in the United
States; the Principal, the Chancellor, Mr GM Madonnell
and Mr George Gillies being appointed a
committee to act with them. Another committee
was also formed, consisting of the Chancellor, the
lcoal trustees, Rev. James Barclay, Rev. DJ
Macdonnell with the Vice-Principal and
