Royal Charter and by the Act entitulated "An Act respecting
Queen's College at Kingston", other and additional Trustees be
erected as hereinafter provided who shall have the same powers,
functions rights and privileges as the Trustees elected in terms
of the Charter and of the said Act. 2. The University Council,
of the said College shall have power to elect and appoint
annually a member of the said Council, to be a Trustee of the
said College, and every Trustee so appointed shall hold office
for five years, and no longer unless re-elected. 3. It shall not
be necessary that any Trustee elected by the University Council be
a member of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, or that
any Trustee hereafter elected make or suscribe any religious declaration
or formula whatever, before entering on his duties as
Trustee. 4. In case any Trustee elected by the University Council
shall die or resign his office of Trustee, or shall cease to be a
member of the Council, the Council may at once elect some
other member of the Council to be a Trustee in the place and
for the unfinished term of the Trustee so dying, resigning or
ceasing to be a member of the Council. 5. Any such Trustee
if otherwise qualified may be re-elected whenever, and as often
as his term of office expires. The report was referred back to
the Committee with instruction to take all necessary steps to
procure the passage of an act, substantially in the terms of
the draft submitted, but the matter was not brought to a
conclusion during this session, it being decided
wiser to wait, so that the new Act might
