A banquet was held in the evening in the City Hall at
which 335 guests, including those present in the afternoon
took part. For full account of the Jubilee Celebration (see Q.C.J.
for Jany 15th Vol XVII).

Some important subscriptions and
other benefactions were received during the winter.
R.R. Maclennan of Alexandria subscribed $4,500 in addition to
$500 previously given to form a fund to provide four scholarships
for students from the county of Glengary to be known as
the McLennan Glengary Foundation Fund. Mr Hugh
Waddell of S. Monaghan, also subscribed $2000 to establish a
scholarship in memory of his mother, to be known as
"The Sarah McClelland Waddell". $500 was received from the
executors of the late James Anderson of Acton to establish the
James Anderson Bursary to be given by the Senate to a
theological student who could preach in the Gaelic language
and $500 more from P Purcell M.P. to establish a scholarship,
exempting from payment of fees one student annually
from the Williamstown High School. By the will of the
late Alexander Morris P.C. $1000 was set apart to estabish
a scholarship and the Executors also announced their intention
of sending to the Library his collection of books and pamphlets
to be kept in a collection to bear his name. This valuable
gift amounted to between six and seven hundred volumes.
