the independence of the Medical Faculty: on similar
conditions to those in use at McGill Coll. at Montreal.
This was accepted by both parties as a basis of conference
and a discussion took place on the following points:

As regards the control of their fees by the Medical Faculty.
Under this it was agreed that the fees should be collected
by a person outside the Medical Faculty. Whether that
person should be the Treasurer or Registrar of the University,
or some one else, was not decided. But in the event of
its being either of the first two officers named, it was
suggested that he should do the work without charge and
that in return the rule in Queen's should be the same as
in Toronto University

That each Professor, Lecturer, Demonstrator
or other Instructor as part of his duties without
additional renumeration, may be required to act as University
Examiner in Medicine.

It was also agreed that
one third of the receipts of the Medical Faculty should
be set apart for expenses and appliances, and that the
remaining two thirds should be applied to the payments
of salaries.

As to the principle on which the professors
should be paid, it was deferred until a Committee of the
Faculty appointed to consider the matter had reported.

As regards the way in which the University could
assist the Medical Faculty, it was decided that the
subject of General Biology including Conparative
Anatony, Physiology and Histology
