received during this year. The University was at
this time the recipient of a valuable Scholarship from
Her Majesty's Commissioners for the International Exhibition
of 1851. Having set apart the surplus
which had accrued from that Exhibition for the endowment
of post graduate scholarships, four universities
were chosen in Canada to profit by them. These were
Dalhousie, McGill, Queen's and Toronto. The value of
the scholarships was £150 Stg each, to be held by the
student for one year or two years. The one for Queen's
was this year given to Mr. Norman Caramichael, MA.

The following honorary degrees were conferred
at the spring Convocation.
